DETAILED ITINERARY

Enhance Your trip

Bangkok Independent Short Break; River Kwai & Ayutthaya : Pre-trip extension.
Koh Rong: Post-trip extension.

Day 1: Vientiane, Laos

Meals Included: Welcome dinner
Sabaidee, welcome to country's capital, Vientiane – possibly Asia's most laidback capital.

Laos is a landlocked country in Southeast Asia with a history of over a thousand years, beginning with the Lan Xang Kingdom and later gaining independence from French colonial rule in 1953.
Its culture is strongly influenced by Theravada Buddhism, which plays a central role in daily life, festivals, and the many temples across the country. Laos is home to various ethnic groups, each with their own customs, languages, and crafts, all valuing community, respect for elders, and living in harmony with nature.

Upon arrival, you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your accommodation. Vientiane’s faded colonial mansions, tree lined boulevards, and old temples along the Mekong River create a timeless atmosphere to explore on foot or by tuktuk (known locally as the “jumbo”).

You'll have a welcome meeting at 6pm to meet your local leader and fellow travellers, followed by a dinner featuring traditional Laotian cuisine.

Day 2: Vientiane to Vang Vieng

Meals Included: Breakfast
This morning, we will visit Wat Si Saket, the oldest temple still standing in Vientiane and home to nearly 7,000 Buddha images. Afterwards, we’ll head to the COPE Visitors Centre, an organisation that supports those injured by unexploded ordnance across the country. It’s a meaningful chance to learn about Laos’ difficult war history, and we can also enjoy a snack or drink at their Karma Café.

Later, we will visit the iconic Pha That Luang, Laos’ most important religious monument. This 45 metre high golden stupa, believed to contain a breastbone relic of the Buddha, dates back potentially as far as the third century AD.

We’ll also see Patuxai, Vientiane’s Victory Gate. Built between 1957 and 1968, this Laotian style triumphal arch honours those who fought for independence. Its mix of French inspired design and traditional Lao carvings makes it a distinctive landmark,

Finally, we’ll take a high speed train to Vang Vieng, situated on the Nam Song River. Surrounded by dramatic limestone karst formations, it’s a perfect spot to enjoy Laos’ natural beauty.

Special information
Your travel time today will be approximately 1 hour. Sharp objects such as pocket knives and spray bottles are not permitted on high-speed trains in Laos, including aerosols and mists. We recommend bringing sunscreens and mosquito repellents with no spray capabilities on this trip, as sprays will get confiscated at the station.

Day 3: Vang Vieng

Meals Included: Breakfast and Lunch

Today we will drive 10 kilometres north of Vang Vieng town to Ban Viengsamai village, the starting point for our kayaking trip. Our experienced river guide will first teach us the basic paddling techniques before we set off downstream. As we kayak along the Nam Song River, we can enjoy the peaceful surroundings and stunning limestone karst mountains.

The route takes us past scenic green karsts and small rapids until we reach Tham Norn Cave, also known as Sleeping Cave, which lies on the riverbank. We will also visit Tham Ngangfar (Angel Cave) and explore inside Tham Norn Cave, learning about its history during the Second Indochina War.

After the caves, we’ll stop for a picnic lunch (and a riverside bar is nearby to help quench your thirst!)  Our kayaking continues back towards Vang Vieng town.

After we disembark, we’ll continue by private songthaew (pick up truck taxi) to Tham Chang Cave – a beautiful cavern fed by a natural spring. We’ll explore the cave and the stunning Blue Lagoon nearby. Inside the historic cave, we’ll discover impressive limestone formations and take in scenic views over the Nam Song River and surrounding mountains. Then, we can relax at the Blue Lagoon, famous for its clear blue water – perfect for swimming, rope jumping, or simply unwinding in nature.

Day 4: Vang Vieng to Oudomxay

Meals Included: Breakfast
Enjoy a leisurely morning at your own pace. Relax and take in the peaceful rural surroundings, or wander out for a
short walk to the local market.
Later, we board a train for a scenic two-hour journey to Oudomxay, followed by a 45 minute transfer to our resort nestled within the protected forests of Nam Kat Yorla Pa.
As the day winds down, unwind with a refreshing drink while watching the sun set over the Mekong River, or perhaps indulge in a soothing
massage to complete a perfect evening.

Picture
Day 5: Oudomxay

Meals Included: Breakfast

This morning, we can choose to begin our selfcare journey outdoors with a tranquil yoga session on the open air deck, surrounded by the vast rainforest to inspire every movement.

Later in the morning, we’ll venture deep into the wilderness for an exciting mix of jungle hiking, skybridge walking, and waterfall exploration. We start mid morning at the tour information centre, then take a short private transfer to Nam Kat Waterfall. There, we’ll pause to take in the beauty of the forest before following a natural jungle trail that leads us across 13 rope and wood sky bridges suspended in the forest canopy. These bridges are not too high and easy to navigate, making the experience enchanting rather than daunting.

After this adventure, our private vehicle will take us back to the resort, where the rest of the day is ours to relax.
We can enjoy the peaceful surroundings or make the most of the facilities — perhaps a refreshing swim in the pool or a calming spa treatment.

Optional Activities –
• Morning Yoga class
• 4 Zip lining (90 minutes)
• See the panorama view from Phu Toh Hin 1.45 Hours

Day 6: Oudomxay  to Luang Prabang

Meals Included: Breakfast

We begin the day with a 45–60 minute drive to a village in Oudomxay to learn about the Tai Lue ethnic group, renowned for their traditional cotton weaving skills. Our visit includes a stop at Tai Lue Cotton Handicraft, a charming private home and garden where beautifully crafted, naturally dyed cotton products are displayed.
This offers a wonderful insight into the artistry and cultural identity of the Tai Lue community.

We then continue on to the golden Phuuthat Stupa, an important religious monument dating back to the 14th century, offering striking views and a
glimpse into the region’s history.

Following our visit, we catch the train for an approximately one‑hour journey to Luang Prabang, where we will settle in and spend the next three nights.

Day 7: Luang Prabang

Meals Included: Breakfast

This morning, we’ll embark on a scenic two-hour longtail boat journey along the Mekong River to the Pak Ou Caves. As we travel, we can soak up the tranquil river views and observe local life along the banks.

Once we arrive at Pak Ou, we will explore the two main caves, Tham Ting and Tham Theung, which are home to thousands of Buddha images in a variety of poses and sizes, offered over generations by local villagers. Our guide will provide insight into the spiritual significance and history of this revered site. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy the peaceful riverside setting before boarding the boat for our return to Luang Prabang, arriving around midday.

In the afternoon, we will explore this UNESCO listed former capital, starting with a visit to Wat Xiengthong, renowned as one of Laos’ finest temples. We’ll then tour the Royal Palace National Museum, once the royal residence and now home to historic buildings, the revered Prabang Buddha, and the former royal car collection.

We end the day at Phu Si Temple, enjoying sweeping sunset views over the Mekong and the city.

Day 8: Luang Prabang
Meals Included: Breakfast and dinner

At dawn, those who wish can experience the peaceful ritual of Sai Bat, watching saffron robed monks as they collect their daily alms. Afterwards, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast.

This morning, we will visit the Ock Pop Tok Living Crafts Centre to experience the rich textile traditions of Laos. During the tour, we’ll learn about the entire process, from silkworm cultivation to the finished fabric. The staff will demonstrate how natural dyes are made and introduce us to the most popular weaving techniques used in Laos. We’ll have the opportunity to wander through the weaving studio and watch skilled artisans at work creating intricate textiles.

Later, we’ll make our way to Tamarind’s charming lakeside pavilions for an engaging, hands on cooking experience. Together, we’ll prepare popular Lao dishes while exploring traditional customs and cooking techniques. We’ll pound ingredients in a mortar & pestle, cook over an open fire, and eat our creations.

Ock Pop Tok visit – Optional workshops available to book with extra charges as below;
  • 1/2 Day Natural Dyeing @ USD62 per pax
  • 1/2 Day Weaving @ USD62 per pax
  • 1/2 Day Hmong Batik @ USD52 per pax

Day 9: Luang Prabang to Siem Reap, Cambodia
Meals Included: Breakfast and dinner
This morning is free for leisure, allowing us time to relax or explore a bit more at our own pace before preparing for the afternoon flight to Siem Reap.
Upon arrival, we’ll reach the small yet rapidly growing town of Siem Reap, the gateway to Angkor and one of the most popular destinations for travellers in Cambodia, if not all of Southeast Asia.

You’ll likely notice a change of pace here, so take some time to stroll and soak up the atmosphere. A visit to the old market is a must— even if you’re not shopping for souvenirs. Wandering through the stalls and surrounding shops, you’ll see silks, cottons, sarongs, silverware, and statues, all bursting with colour and offering a feast for the eyes.

This evening, dinner is at Spoons Café Restaurant, a training facility run by SPOONS Cambodia Organization (SCO), a nonprofit hospitality school dedicated to supporting underserved young Cambodians.
Picture
Day 10: Siem Reap

Meals Included: Breakfast and lunch
Embrace a very early start today with a sunrise visit at the Angkor complex – an unforgettable way to begin your
journey.

After sunrise, we’ll spend the day exploring the temples of Angkor by bike, following quiet paths and shaded trails that connect the sites. We’ll start with Angkor Wat, the largest and most complete temple, notable for its unique west facing entrance. For lunch, we’ll cycle to Sala Bai Hotel School, where underprivileged youths receive hospitality training. Here, we’ll enjoy a delicious meal prepared by the students.

In the afternoon, we’ll continue cycling to Angkor Thom, known as the “Great Royal City,” where we’ll visit the iconic Bayon temple, famous for its more than 200 smiling carved faces. Our ride will conclude at Ta Prohm, a mystical site where jungle trees and roots intertwine with ancient stone, creating one of Angkor’s most atmospheric settings.

This evening, we’ll head to Phare, the Cambodian Circus, which promises to be a highlight. The performers come from vulnerable backgrounds and have gained international recognition through their artistry. Often compared to a Cambodian Cirque du Soleil, the show blends modern Khmer stories with theatre, music, dance, acrobatics, juggling, aerial acts, and contortion.

Please note: eBikes are available upon request for an additional surcharge.

Day 11: siem reap
Meals Included: Breakfast and dinner

After breakfast, we’ll set off for Kbal Spean, one of Cambodia’s earliest Hindu pilgrimage sites. The site requires a short 3 km round trek up a hill through dense jungle, which rewards us with the “River of 1,000 Lingas” — featuring remarkable stone carvings of Hindu gods, animals, and other symbols carved into the riverbed.

If there is sufficient water, we can enjoy a refreshing bath in the waterfall, a favourite spot for local families.
Please note that while the trek is relatively easy, it does involve uphill walking on uneven terrain, so it is best suited to those with a good level of fitness and is not recommended for anyone with mobility issues.

The next stop is Banteay Srei, often referred to as the “gem” of the Angkor region. Known as the “Citadel of the Women,” it is the best preserved temple in Cambodia. This small temple is celebrated for its exceptionally fine bas reliefs, showcasing some of the finest examples of classical Khmer art. What makes Banteay Srei truly unique is its construction from pink sandstone, a material not found elsewhere in Angkor.
Afterwards, we’ll stop at Preah Dak Village for lunch, a popular and well known destination. Our guide will help us engage with the locals and gain insight into their daily lives. You’ll see numerous roadside food and dessert vendors and will also have the opportunity to taste a variety of local snacks. There may also be a chance to watch villagers making sugar palm products (seasonal) and other handmade crafts.
Picture
Picture
Day 12: Siem Reap
Meals Included: Breakfast

This morning, we’ll take a TukTuk with Srey, a local social enterprise dedicated to providing employment opportunities for women in the community, to visit the Rokkhak Women’s Handicraft Centre. This sustainable business connects socially conscious travellers with traditional local crafts.

At Rokkhak, we’ll watch skilled artisans weaving baskets and other items from water hyacinth—a fast growing aquatic plant that is transformed into beautiful, eco-friendly products. We’ll learn about the intricate weaving techniques involved and have the opportunity to try our hand at creating our own piece.

This afternoon is free for you to relax or explore at your own pace. You might choose to visit local markets, wander through nearby streets, or simply enjoy some downtime.

This evening, we’ll attend a special dinner accompanied by a traditional Apsara dance performance at Devi Theatre or a similar venue. The dancers, dressed in elaborate and stunning costumes, bring to life the epic stories of the Royal Court through graceful movements and expressive gestures. The performance also includes folk dances inspired by the country traditions of local peasants, all set to traditional music. It offers a unique cultural insight and a memorable way to experience the region’s artistic heritage while enjoying an authentic meal.

Picture
Day 13: kampong khleang
Meals Included: Breakfast and lunch

This morning, we’ll explore the Roluos Group—comprising Bakong, Lolei, and Preah Ko—considered the 9th century birthplace of Khmer civilisation. These ancient temple sites offer a glimpse into early Khmer architecture and culture, marking a significant chapter in Cambodia’s history.

Our visit will conclude with a special monk blessing at a local pagoda, where you’ll receive wishes for health and safe travels. Following this, you’ll continue to Kampong Kleang, an authentic and lessvisited floating village on Tonlé Sap Lake, close to Siem Reap. Known for its towering stilt houses and genuine community life, Kampong Kleang undergoes remarkable seasonal changes as the water levels rise and fall, transforming the landscape and offering a unique perspective on local life.

The visit includes a boat trip through a network of canals, providing views of stilt homes, floating houses, markets, schools, pagodas, and everyday village scenes. This offers an immersive experience, far from the usual tourist paths, giving deep insight into the livelihoods of local fishing communities.

Tonight, we will enjoy dinner in the village and experience staying overnight with a local family, providing an authentic and memorable homestay experience.

A note on the Homestay: For travellers wanting to go beyond the temples of Angkor Wat, ST63 Homestay offers a unique insight into Cambodia’s floating communities. Guests stay with a local Khmer family, so tourism directly supports their household income and the wider village economy. It’s an opportunity to engage respectfully with daily life on the lake—learning about traditional fishing methods, seasonal patterns, and the distinctive ecosystem of Tonlé Sap. Explore stilted homes by boat and see a way of life shaped entirely by water. This experience is genuine and well off the usual tourist path, showing Cambodia in its most authentic form. Please note that bathroom and toilet facilities are shared and basic.

Picture
Day 14: siem reap to phnom penh
Meals Included: Breakfast
After breakfast this morning, we’ll depart Siem Reap and travel to Phnom Penh in a comfortable private vehicle. Along the way, we’ll visit Skun Village to discover traditional Cambodian life and learn about the local speciality of deepfried tarantulas and other insects, a common snack for residents.

On arrival in Phnom Penh, we’ll check in at our hotel and have time to relax. Cambodia’s capital is situated at the confluence of the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers and features notable examples of Frenchinfluenced architecture.

In the evening, we’ll transfer to the pier for a sunset cruise along the Mekong and Tonle Sap rivers. As we unwind with freeflowing drinks, we’ll enjoy views of the city’s colonial skyline and the picturesque “Four Faces” river junction.

Picture
Day 15: phnom penh
Meals Included: Breakfast and Dinner (street food tour)

After breakfast, we’ll begin an active adventure by mountain bike, crossing the river on a local boat before cycling through villages on an island in the Mekong River. This island is known for its silk weaving, agriculture, and aquaculture. We’ll stop to observe locals at work and cycle along quiet roads, orchards, and rice paddies.

Afterwards, we’ll return to Phnom Penh for a free afternoon. Our local leader can assist in arranging optional activities, or you can explore the city at your own pace. Phnom Penh offers a poignant glimpse into Cambodia’s past, with the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21) and the Killing Fields of Choeung Ek serving as sobering reminders of the Khmer Rouge era.

In the evening, prepare for a food adventure exploring Cambodia’s vibrant street food scene by tuktuk. You’ll sample authentic local dishes, enjoy refreshing drinks, and soak in the lively atmosphere for an unforgettable culinary experience.

Optional activities
• Phnom Penh - Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum (S21)
• Phnom Penh - The Killing Fields of Choeung Ek
• Phnom Penh - Transport to Choeung Ek (Killing Fields)

FAQ's:

Hosted Tour: What is it and What Does the Host Do?
A Women Go Travel hosted tour means travelling with a local guide and your host, Angela. She will support you throughout your journey, beginning with pre-trip preparations, providing a reading list, packing advice, and answering any questions you have before you depart.
During the tour, Angela acts as your organised companion, managing logistics, updating you on plans, and helping sort out any hiccups.

Plus, having Angela as your host doesn’t add to the trip's cost compared to going alone. She’s the friendly face ensuring your holiday is enjoyable from start to finish.
How is a hosted tour different from other types of tours?
With Women Go Travel's hosted tours, you'll have Angela as your host, alongside a local guide who accompanies you 24/7. Together, they provide round the clock insights and support, ensuring your journey is both authentic and personalised, offering you the best of both worlds.
What are the benefits of going on a hosted tour?
There are lots of benefits, including:
1. You don't need to worry about the nitty-gritty details of planning and organising the trip. I take care of the logistics, including accommodations, transportation, and activities. This allows you to relax and enjoy the journey without the hassle of planning everything yourself.
2. You'll be travelling with a group of like-minded individuals who share a common interest in exploring the destination. This offers a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, make lasting friendships, and create memories together.
3. My tours use local guides who provide insider knowledge and a deeper understanding of the destination. These guides share fascinating stories, hidden gems, and cultural nuances that you might not discover on your own.
4. Having me as a host during your journey provides an extra layer of safety and support. I can address any concerns or emergencies that may arise, ensuring your well-being throughout the trip.
What is the typical group size for your hosted tours
This does vary slightly from tour to tour, but my maximum group size is 12 people.
This is considerably smaller compared to most companies offering small group tours, which typically accommodate 16 to 24 travellers.
WHo Are THESE trips for?
Any woman, no matter your age, is welcome!
Whether you are travelling solo, with friends or with your partner, whether you're single, married, divorced or widowed you belong.
All I ask is that you have a reasonable degree of fitness, a sense of adventure and preferably a fabulous sense of humour!
Also, be prepared for the unexpected. After all, is it really an adventure if everything goes exactly to plan!
I'm travelling on my own, is that a problem?
Absolutely not.
I will pair you with a suitable room mate, unless you prefer a single room (single supplements may be applicable, depending on the trip).
Plus, you will never be on your own on the tour (unless you want to be), I will be there to make sure of that!
Why women only trips?
I run women's only trips that offer a unique, empowering experience. They create a safe space to bond, share stories and build connections, where you can relax and be yourself without judgment. My trips focus on activities and cultural experiences tailored to women's interests, so you get practical routes, supportive company and hands on local experiences designed for the way women travel.
Plus, no‑one’s sprinting for the summit or auditioning to be the tour’s walking encyclopedia — we take our time and chat instead!
Your hosted tours are "Land Only", what does this mean?
"Land only" refers to a travel package that includes all the components of a holiday, such as accommodation, transportation, some meals and activities, but excludes international airfare.

The benefits of a "land only" package:
Flexibility: By booking your own flights separately, you have the freedom to choose your preferred airlines, routes, and departure dates. This allows you to customise your travel plans according to your preferences and budget.
Cost savings: By excluding airfare, "land only" packages can often be more affordable. This is especially beneficial for those who have access to discounted or reward flights, or individuals who prefer to book their flights using frequent flyer miles.
Personalisation: By having control over your flights, you have the opportunity to extend your trip or make stopovers along the way, adding more destinations to your itinerary.
Reunion: Maybe your best friend lives in another city, country or continent? What better way to meet up, than on an organised adventure!

I'm worried that I may be too old or too young for your tours, will my age be a problem?
The average age of women on my tours is 40's - 60's, but I actively welcome women of all ages. And, as I have already mentioned, the only requirements are that you have a reasonable degree of fitness, a sense of adventure and a fabulous sense of humour to join!
A multi-generational group brings together a diverse range of perspectives, knowledge, and experiences, providing a unique opportunity as everyone benefits from the wisdom and insights shared by each individual.
