Day 1: Delhi

Meals Included: Welcome dinner
Welcome to India!

Delhi, strategically located on the west bank of the Yamuna River between the Himalayas and Aravalli Hills, has been inhabited since 2500 BC, according to Indian folklore.
Indraprastha was its first city; Shahjahanabad, the seventh, was built in 1638 when the Mughal capital returned from Agra. Chandni Chowk, its main thoroughfare, remains a bustling market.

In 1911, Delhi was named India’s capital, and New Delhi, designed by Lutyens and Baker, was inaugurated in 1931 as a symbol of British power.

In the evening meet your tour leader for a short trip brief, followed by a Welcome Dinner, Indian Style.

Day 2: Delhi

Meals Included: Breakfast
After breakfast, we dive into the heart of Old Delhi, a place pulsating with history, culture, and energy. We’ll wander through the bustling alleyways of Chandni Chowk, one of India’s oldest markets, soaking in the vibrant chaos and unique charm. A cycle rickshaw ride through these narrow, lively streets lets us truly immerse in the sights, sounds, and scents of daily local life. Our journey includes a visit to Jama Masjid, Delhi’s largest mosque renowned for its grand architecture and deep historical roots. We then pause at Sheeshganj Gurudwara, a significant Sikh temple, where we gain insight into Sikh traditions and spiritual heritage.

Next, we'll explore Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market, a sensory delight with vibrant sacks of spices and dry fruits lining the streets. From there, we move on to the Red Fort, a majestic 17th century Mughal fortress built from striking red sandstone. This UNESCO World Heritage Site stands as a powerful symbol of India’s rich heritage.

In the afternoon, you’ll enjoy free time for shopping or can choose to visit Delhi Haat, a lively openair market famed for its regional handicrafts and diverse Indian cuisines—offering even more ways to experience the vibrant culture of Delhi.

Day 3: Delhi to Agra

Meals Included: Breakfast
This morning, we transfer to Delhi railway station to board our train to Agra.

Founded in 1504 by Sultan Sikander Lodi on the western bank of the Yamuna River, Agra was besieged in 1526 by Babur, the first Mughal Emperor. Upon arrival, we visit Agra Fort, where imposing red sandstone battlements conceal magnificent Mughal palaces. We explore the Diwani Am (Hall of Public Audience) and the Diwani Khas (Hall of Private Audience), alongside the delicate white marble Mina Masjid (Heavenly Mosque), which stands in striking contrast within the Red Fort complex.

The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. For those interested, there’s an optional craft tour of Agra, visiting local artisans who uphold centuries old traditions dating back to the Mughal era. You’ll witness the intricate art of inlaying semiprecious stones into marble, a hallmark of Agra’s heritage, and explore the detailed world of zari work, where fine golden threads are embroidered into fabric, alongside other traditional crafts reflecting the city’s rich artisanal legacy.

As evening approaches, we visit the Taj Mahal at sunset. Built by Emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal, who died giving birth to their fourteenth child in 1631, the Taj Mahal has been beautifully described by Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore as ‘a tear drops on the face of eternity’.

Day 4: Agra to Ranthambore National Park

Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
We start our day early with another visit to the iconic Taj Mahal, this time at sunrise —a remarkable experience as the morning light casts a golden glow over this architectural masterpiece.

Afterward, we depart Agra for Ranthambore, a journey of around five hours by road.
En route, we pause at the historic village of Abhaneri to visit Chand Baori, one of India’s oldest and deepest stepwells. Built in the 9th century, this impressive structure features 3,500 narrow steps descending over 13 levels, creating a mesmerizing pattern. Originally designed for water conservation, it also served as a social gathering place and stands as a striking example of ancient Indian engineering and architecture.

We continue our journey to Ranthambore. On arrival, you can choose to relax by the pool or explore the town.

Ranthambore National Park is among India’s most famous wildlife reserves, where dense jungle surrounds ancient ruins. During your stay, we embark on thrilling game drives in search of diverse wildlife, including the elusive Bengal tiger roaming freely among the forests and crumbling temples.

Special Information:
Permits are required for Ranthambore National Park visits.
Authorities operate a strict first come, first served system for issuing permits.
Note: There are no seat belts in Jeep /Canter Safari.

Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
Rise early for a morning safari in Ranthambore National Park, one of the original Project Tiger reserves. Here, nature has reclaimed ancient forts and temples, creating a unique habitat teeming with wildlife.

Travelling in safari vehicles, we embark on game drives to search for animals, including the elusive Bengal tiger that prowls these jungles. Even if the tigers remain out of sight, the park is home to a variety of wildlife such as gazelle, hyenas, sloth bears, crocodiles, jackals, and three species of antelope—nilgai, sambar, and chital—as well as leopards.

After some downtime at the resort in the afternoon, we head out for an evening safari, offering another opportunity to spot the resident tiger population. There may also be a chance to explore the 1,000yearold Ranthambore Fort, where the surviving pavilions—Badal Mahal and Hammirs Court—offer a glimpse into its former grandeur despite the ravages of war and time.

In the evening, we gather with our group and tour leader for a special cultural experience: a cooking demonstration hosted in a local home. We meet these talented women, browse their exquisite crafts, and learn about how this initiative positively impacts their lives, families, and the wider village community.

Day 11: Jodhpur to Jaisalmer Thar
Meals Included: Breakfast, lunch and dinner
This morning, after breakfast, we set out for the vast Thar Desert, an arid expanse covering some 200,000 square kilometres. As we spend the day exploring its rolling sand dunes, you’ll witness the unique landscape shaped by nature’s relentless forces, punctuated by sparse vegetation and traditional desert settlements. The desert’s stark beauty and wide open skies offer a compelling contrast to the bustling cities we’ve visited.

Our day concludes at a desert camp, where you’ll meet local men and women who call this harsh environment home. While the men prepare a traditional Rajasthani dinner, you’ll have the chance to engage with the women and learn about their lives in this challenging yet vibrant setting.

The evening includes a Kalbeliya dance performance—a traditional female dance where the dancers wear long, flowing skirts and mimic the fluid movements of serpents. This dance reflects the snake charmer’s important role in Rajasthani culture and adds a fascinating cultural layer to our desert experience.
